Dana, thank you for your input. I've been married for twenty four years . My drinking only became a problem about seven years ago. Recently I have been having pretty many victories for which I am thankful. But I still go back to drinking every now...

Hi, I don't know if this will be helpful to anyone, but I'm the drinker in our family and I'm trying to quit altogether. It is hard, not impossible, but hard. My counsellor recently made a point to me about not having any consequences for my drink...

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Just would like to say to all the folks in this community. Thank you for being here. Jesus said that by this will all men know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. Paul said that we are to bear one anothers burdens and in this way fulfill the law of Christ. James said confess your sins to one another and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The best way to help yourself is to be a help to someone else. This is a good place to be.

I wrote this a while back.....

thought I'd share... Have a great weekend!

I am reading Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert and enjoying it immensely! I think it should be called eat, pray, love, LAUGH becuase her writing is hillarious, not to mention brilliant!

I love something I came across in my reading on a different subject:

"Giovanni and I have such a good time teaching each other idioms in English and Italian. We were talking the other evening about the phrases one uses when trying to comfort someone in distress. I told him that in English we sometimes say, "I've been there." This was unclear to him at first-I've been where? But I explained that deep grief sometimes is almost like a specific location, a coordinate on a map of time. When you are standing in that forest of sorrow, you cannot imagine that you could ever find your way to a better place. But if someone can assure you that they themselves have stood in that same place, and now have moved on; sometimes this will bring hope.

"So sadness is a place?" Giovanni asked.

"Sometimes people live there for years," I said.

In return, Giovanni told me that empathizing Italians say L'ho provato sulla mia pelle, which means "I have experienced that on my own skin." Meaning, I have also been burned or scarred in this way, and I know exactly what you're going through."~Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert

I know this is not the same as 'Jesus with skin on' but it reminds me of that...I guess just the reference to skin and empathizing with folks etc.

Bless,

suzy
