Hi Gwen Where is Windsor? I'm in north central CA--within driving distance of capital, Yolo, Sutter, and Sacramento counties. I know I would benefit from participating in a local group. lj

Gina, I read back comments and noticed that you are relatively new here. So, if no one else has told you welcome, let me say it now, Welcome. I've never been diagnosed with ED and yet I know how I think, feel, and act with food. I've loved--yes, lov…

Gina, I wish I had some wisdom to give you just now. However, I'm in a cycle of seeming uncontrollable hunger. Right now I keep reminding myself that God is my Great Reward--not food. (Jesus, God's love and acceptance, etc), and that He is my Shield…

Dec 30--Lose It for Life Devo--Are we enduring life or enjoying it?

Lose It for Life Day by Day Devotions for Every Day of the Year, by Arterburn, Puff, and Conaway.
Devo for Dec 30
Enduring or Enjoying?
I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of. John 10:10 msg

We may wonder whether all this "recovery work" is worth anything in the light of eternity. Will it add to our salvation? No, but it's not wasted either, because as Jesus said, He came so we may have not just eternal life but also "b… Continue

12/10--Lose It for Life Devo for Today--Diligence in Recovery

Diligence in Recovery
"A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest--and poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man." Proverbs 6:10-11

God has more for our lives than a passive existence. He has made us with special gifts and talents, and He has given us the ability to influence others. It is tragic for us when we waste these gifts, sacrificing the life of meaning and purpose for our own self-centered will.

We've spent enough… Continue

Lose It For Life Devo for 11/29 The Goal is Progress

The Goal is ProgressFrom the Lose It for LIfe Day by Day Devotions for Every Day of the Year, by Arterburn, Puff, and Conaway.

"How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!" Heb 9: 14

With each day we can choose behaviors that lead to either life or death. We long for transformation in our lives, yet there are still… Continue

LIFL Devo for 11/21--Take Heed

From Lose It For Life Day by Day Devotions for Every Day of the Year by Arterburn, Puff, and Conway.

"We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away." Heb 2:1

It is good to gain knowledge for living. We can be very dedicated to taking in new information on a daily basis about health and fitness and about God. Then we must pay careful attention to apply what we can, since knowledge in and of itself is useless. Our problem isn't l… Continue

One thing I've learned from going to a Diabetes class they suggested putting your meal on a small desert plate. This way you don't eat too much but just enough and your eyes/brain are tricked into thinking you are eating alot.

Hello LJ. Yes, I got to hug and kiss my fur babies. Oh how I love my sweet babies. They bring me such joy and happiness. When we come in the door my babies are waiting right there to greet us. It is so funny that my cat and dog get along so well together. When we got our cat she was just a tiny kitten. Scrappy our dog liked her from the beginning. They are best friends. When I take Scrappy out to the bathroom she cries until he comes back in.
I guess I am just numb from my husband always having a dilema. I will hope for the best. We have until the 30th of November. I am believing the Lord will allow my husband to continue to work there. But, not my will but His will be done.

Hello LJ it is good to hear from you. I am also struggling with my weight. I have been turning to food for comfort. So you are not alone in this. I hope you can find a decent car at a good price. So, your hours are being cut? That is really rough. This economy is really rough right now.
I am doing ok. Mikes job ends on November 30th. He is hoping this new company thats taking the contract will hire him. I would dread his unemployment again. Too much of a struggle. I hope life gets better for you.

Hello LJ wow what a bummer to have your car down. That is a long walk when your joints are hurting. I hope you will get your car fixed and all will be well. I'm happy to hear that the tests are going well for your son. I hope that he will be successful and will be able to get into the service as he would like. It is so good to hear from you. You are an inspiration to all of us.
Where is Jewel? Where is Kathy?: Where is DR and the others? We need your input also. Let us know what is going on in your lives so we can maybe pray for you as well. We need to keep in touch.

LJ It is wonderful to hear from you and to get some inspiration. We all need a little boost of inspiration. Thank you for lifting us all up at a time that we all need it in this crazy world that we live in.
You are right. The Holy Spirit does live within us. He is there with us when we are asleep watching over us and he is there with us when we are awake. It is nice to know that we are not alone in this chaotic world.

Amen LJ, After all our bodies are the temple of God. I want to be around for my husand and my daugher and son. I am trying to beware of my emotional eating. I have dealt with it since I was a little girl. I still deal with it. It is a daily battle for me.

Hello LJ. Yes, thank the Lord I am no longer living with my mother in law. We are in our own place. It is small, but it is home. Yes, I have my beautiful fur babies. They bring me such joy and comfort. They are alot of fun and they take alot of my stress away. It is wonderful to come home and they are both at the door waiting for me. Such sweet love. Mike is still working, only it is a temporary position. As far as I know...there is no hope in it becoming permanent. But, at least he is bringing in money. I praise the Lord each day that my husband can go to work and bring home a pay check each week. God is so good.

My daughter has joined a health club and has been taking me along, unfortunately she hasn't been in the mood, I am....but I have to go when she goes...I am her guest. I have been trying to convince her to go with me. I feel so much better when I exercise. As far as walking outside I haven't tried it yet...waiting for the cool air to come eventually.

Hello sweet LJ. I am so glad that you posted today. We all really do need each other. We may not be able to see each other, but in spirit we are still the body of Christ and we need each other.
I am so sorry for all of the losses that you have had this year LJ. And yes you are so very, very right..life is a vapor. It is hard to see people leave our lives. Just know that we are all there for you at any time. I am just so happy that you have expressed yourself here.
